PAUL CRESTON Dear Master, Many thanks for your recording of my Sonata for Saxophone and Piano that I recently received. This makes the sixth recording of the Sonata and the second in France. The performance and the interpretation are excellent, but the tempos in the first and third movements are a bit too fast. It is not your fault, but the fault of the composer who indicated a metronome marking of 126 in the first movement and 160 in the third. Shame on the poor composer! With my best wishes and sincere thanks, (Signed) Paul CRESTON Jean-Marie LONDEIX. Translation by Jennie Wood and William Street, University of Alberta |
